Checked this one out and it is neat reading. I have the camera now that my sister is trading me for. It is a Kodak dx 6490, mine was a Kodak dx 6440. With mine I had macro lenses and could get really close, if I took my time I could get nice macros. With her camera it comes built in a 10x zoom which is awesome but no close up lenses even made for it. the macro is built in and you really can't get as close as I like, sooooooo I made myself a lens holder and kept my 10mm lens and have come to like it alot. I just hold it up to the lens on the camera and start zooming in .It works......... Just thought I would share that with you..Rosie

My Nikon Coolpix 2200 says "6.5cm" is the ideal macro shooting distance (or somewhere 3 inches away from the object you're shooting at). I've gotten in as close to about 3 cm without blurring on the image. So the manufacturer recommended is just that: recommended...not fixed in stone?

It will vary depending on the camera, lenses, etc. ;)
