Hi I am new to this site. I am 21 years old and I am trying to decide on a career. I few days ago I begain thinking about taking pictures for a living but I don't know anything about it. I would really be interested in travelling around to different countries and taking pictures for magazines. I would mostly be interested in taking pictures of scenery, wild animals, or old cities, or different travel destinations. I have never owned a camera, but I think I could really enjoy this. How do you get started? Or find a job eventually? Thanks for any help.

Well, you're gonna want to start by seeing if you even like photography. It will take many years to master photography, so start now and learn lots.

It all starts with a camera. Get one and see where it takes you.

I agree with others. First thing is to get a camera and shoot away. Maybe you could take a photo class at your local college or photo club.
Good luck!

alright then, it looks like I should buy a camera. Any tips on what I should buy? I have no idea about cameras, should I buy an expensive one right off the bat? Also should I get photoshop? Any other pointers would help. Thanks alot.

start out with an old/used completely manual SLR camera. Thats the only way you'll learn, there is a lot more to photography than just pointing and clicking the shutter.. dive right in! :)

Im in the same boat. I have been waiting for somthing to land in my lap.
Well since that wont happen I have to get my work out to the public. Im trying to do that now. I would love to making money doing photography but the thing is I dont have a paper saying that im good at it.
I would like to go to school for photogrpahy but 1. I dont like school. And 2 I cant just drop everything and go to school.
I hope I can find a part-time job or have someone give me the chance to show myself.
Good Luck with your quest. I know I need it for myself.
