ok anjin_nav i failed at getting the star trails you're so good at getting. i thought i followed your instructions you gave to me a long time ago. Tonight i'm going to have my settings on 22/f instead of 5.8 iso at 100 and still at infinity doing the 1 hour exposure. The other problem i had is that i could find the lil dipper but not the big dipper so really couldn't find the north star so i just pointed my camera to the north. I had fun last night even tho it didn't work so i'm looking forward to doing it again tonight.

this one was done with the instructions you gave me of 5.8/f 3200iso infinity and an hour exposure. As you can "see" it's white lol.
this is 5.8f 100iso and it still was too light so i can use some help
One of the last pictures taken with my "New 80-400 Nikkor Zoom" before stepping on a lacrosse ball pitching face forward into thre turf, breaking it into two pieces later that afternoon when I walked down to the sideline to photograph my oldest grandsons MCAL play-off game at Novato HS. The thumbnail is a picture of my 2-piece 80-400mm non-usable lens. That was a quick three and a half weeks of fun and life goes on. ~ jerrywb

The Precipice

Attachment 88524 (http://www.photographycorner.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=88524)

The precipice is that point in creating when one...

Attachment 88524

The precipice is that point in creating when one cannot turn back, that point of no return, that point where all that's left to do is trust; trust the process, trust the product and trust oneself. The precipice is when one must throw every piece of energy they have forward, so when gravity takes over, they fall forward, and not back.

The Precipice encompasses what I love most about creativity and creating. It's the drug I'm addicted to. It's that feeling right before I go onstage where; I want to run away, I want to cry and I most definitely want to vomit. The Precipice is what keeps me wanting to create more.

Creativity is my life. I am an actor, writer, director, musician and photographer. Every aspect of my life demands that I create and maintain creativity. Creativity is what drives our species and is what has allowed us to evolve throughout the centuries. What would the world be without creativity? It is the creative mind that invents, it is the creative mind that excels and I believe that creativity is at the soul of every human being. Creativity is my life.

Photography is my creative outlet. Although I live a life surrounded by arts with every contract I sign being full of creativity, I've realized over time that photography has become the one and only thing I do for myself. I don't do it for money, I don't do it for my peers, I don't do it to be noticed... I do it to release that spark inside me. The one that cannot be tamed by money or contracts or someone’s opinion of what is good or bad. With every day, life's pace increases, and to catch a moment in time and see it for eternity... well what's not to love about that?

From the Rhododendron Species Foundation's Botanical Gardens in Federal Way.
All images are SOOC, only resized and/or cropped.

The first several images will be of the Himalyan Blue Poppy, apparently the national flower of Bhutan, and from the Himalyas.

1. Note the range of blues, ie from very purplish to very faint. I suspect that's a function of how long its been open and subjected to the sun's rays.
2. A little shift in the breezes causes the plants AND above shade trees to subtly shift.

ISO-100, f-5.6, 1/125, sec, polarizer
3. Still retains a fair amount of magenta/purple....freshly opened?
6. An Himalyan Maidenhair Fern from the section managed by the Hardy Fern Foundation. Rather than capture the whole plant and the context in which it grows, I opted to zoom in to emphasize the fine, delicate, intricate texture of this plant.
7. A Jack-'n-Pulpit.
