1) Welcome Aboard!

Over the past month or two, there has been a healthy influx of new, active members to the Corner (you know who you are and from whence you came). If you're one of the newbies: WELCOME! Great to see the forums a little more active than they've been over the past couple of months - You seem to be fitting in fantastically. One of the things we all enjoy most about the Corner is the community we've built here. Not only do we all love to chat all things photography (with some fun contests & projects thrown in), we're also a community of people that care about each other. I'm looking forward to seeing all the new folks integrate into the body our our current community. From what I can tell, this growth will only continue to make the Corner one of the hidden gems (maybe increasingly less hidden?) in the world of online photography communities. Is there someone you haven't invited to the Corner yet?

Oh, and don't forget to follow the Corner on Twitter and "like" us on Facebook - it's a great way to connect with your favorite photography community is the wonderful world of social media:

- Facebook:

2) Sponsor: PrintedArt

PrintedArt is not only the lead sponsor of the 2010 Photograph of the Year contest, but they've also sponsored several of our Photograph of the Month contests (providing several members with FANTASTIC LOOKING prints). In addition, they've continued to support and invest in the growth of the PhotographyCorner community by advertising in the newsletter and on the site as well (I'm sure you've seen their banners around!). The best part about working with PrintedArt, however, is that the product/service they provide is superb.

They mount your printed image with a special adhesive to a double layer of thin aluminum with a PVC core in between. This material guarantees extraordinary stiffness and a very even surface. As an additional protective layer, the image receives a laminated finish to protect it from the elements and from UV damage. Both matte and glossy images can be mounted on aluminum dibond (and the mounted image comes with hangers that allow for the image to hang frameless). Sealing the image with a layer of acrylic gives it sheen and guarantees extraordinary durability. The image is mounted behind an acrylic plate before being glued on the aluminum dibond. In addition to the increased durability, this method gives the images improved depth perception and vibrance. It sounds complicated, but the end result is fantastic. It's clean, it looks professional, and best of all, it really brings out and enhances each photograph. Could we, as photographers, ask for anything more out of a print?

8) Server Fundraiser Coming...

If you've been hanging around the Corner over the past little while, you've probably noticed the site has been lagging a bit, and has even gone offline a couple of times in the past week. It's a combination of more traffic to the Corner (never a bad thing!), and our current server getting older (it's 3+ years old... which is 60+ in computer years). I've implemented a band-aid fix for the time being (it'll still be on the slow side, but shouldn't completely crash for now), but we're going to need to upgrade soon. For those that were around in 2008, you may remember the server fundraiser we did... we're going to do something similar, but we're also going to raise some funds to get a PhotographyCorner mobile app set up as well (there's a link with more info above - let us know if this is something you're interested in). Look for details about the fundraiser in the forums and the Corner Blog soon. Hopefully, as a community, we can raise enough funds to make this happen.

See you around the Corner,
Tim L. Walker
