Taken during the day, but I flipped the tone curve so the shadows are visible, and the sunlit areas went black. I think it kind of looks like a night shot.

Thanks Russell. I was going for the topazed look, but this is a lightroom preset called gritty and grungy. I also used an on-one photo tools plug in, with the exaggerated edges filter.

these are really cool. Great comp, and I like how the stairway wraps the eye around these. I think the "quick and dirty" edits work with the subject here, not sure they need to be polished.
