2012 - The year I became a "real" artist

Of course the "real" artist statement is pretty tongue-in-cheek, but it has been an amazing year for me.

I've been enjoying the photography hobby since 2001 and was initially focused on more...

Re: Lightpainting Self Portrait

Thanks for all the feedback.

@Icy: I did this pretty much as a promo shot. I got picked to do a show in March, and they wanted some shots of ourselves to use for their magazine and stuff. They...

Lightpainting Self Portrait

I was playing around in an old horse barn doing some light painting, and I decided to try to light paint a self portrait.

ISO 100, ~2 minute exposure, red gelled strobe, hand held LED flashlight...

Re: Frames, where to buy

I gave one of these frames (http://www.framedestination.com/ready_made/nielsen_gallery_collection_8x10__16x20__gf1950e/item/RFNIGC00009000009501/" target="blank) a try. I like it, but I don't know if...

Frames, where to buy

Good morning,

I was wondering where everybody purchases their frames for exhibiting in galleries and the like. Any special place online that you guys love to use?

Also, do you usually go for...

Size for Art Show

Quick question for the more established artists out there:

I am submitting some artwork for a show with a restriction that most artwork cannot be more than 24 inches wide. I am fairly sure that...

Re: Portfolio & Resume

And as a follow up:

What is the best way to label each picture in the folder (name, location, artist, medium, etc)? Would it be OK to put all this information on the back of each individual photo...

Portfolio & Resume

Howdy everyone, a few quick questions from a relative newbie here:

Re: Clean Sweep

Thanks for the input.

The only artificial lighting in the picture is the red area in the middle bay. Everything else is shot using ambient light. Even though I shoot with an older Rebel, I really...

Re: Clean Sweep

Thanks,

the "plane" is actually a star in the sky. It is amazing how far a star travels through the sky during a 5 minute exposure.

Re: Stop

Beautiful in a sad kind of way. I had many different emotions run through my mind while looking at the picture. Great shot.

Re: Kingdom Tower in Pink

It has a great optical illusion feel to it. I had to look at it for a short while to figure out what it really is. I have to agree that the black space gives it a certain intrique, and the pink just...

Re: The Flatiron Building - Toronto ON

I like the treatment as well. It does look like a pencil scetch with part of the picture colored in. The only two suggestions I can think of are to straighten the building out a little bit (it seems...

Re: No Checks Cashed

~2 minute exposure time, set the camera then expose on bulb.

While the picture is taking I can walk around in the shot with a single strobe and paint parts of the picture using colored gels. I...

Lightroom VS. Elements

Hello everyone,

I have recently downloaded the 30 day trail of LR2, and so far I like what I see. I have not done too much photo-editing with it yet. Instead I have been busy organizing my photos...
