Little Fish

I always wondered what the tiny fish that darted in the rockpools at our local beach were.

You know the ones, 1 -1.5 cm long and I was never able to catch them as a kid.

When I took delivery of my new Sigma SD10 camera & 300mm telephoto/macro lens I figured I could test them by trying to find out.

The challenge was to take a macor photograph of a subject under water with a very long lens and a narrow depth of field.

I prefocused the camera at a point just under the water at a rock pool with an F8 apteture, 800 iso and 1/125 sec shutter speed and waited paitently for the fish to dart into focus.

After around 100 shots, these were the best.

Mission accomlished, I think - the fish are baby whiting.
