1) Opportunities

One of coolest things about being an amateur photographer is all the opportunities you have. Opportunities to share with other photographers, opportunities to win contests, opportunities to participate in projects, opportunities to make some money, and most of all, opportunities to capture moments in history with your camera - moments that can be treasured forever because of your photographs. When it all boils down, that's what it's all about. Sure it's cool to win a contest, or make some money from your photography, but when you really get down to WHY you do photography, it's because you're capturing moments - preserving moments - in time. Now, if you're not a very good photographer, those moments of time may be out of focus, or maybe have a yellow tinge, or maybe someone's head is cut off. If you're going to preserve those moments in time, don't you owe it to yourself, and to anyone else that may look at your photographs, to be the best photographer that you can be? That's where the Corner comes in. You can share with other photographers. You can enter contests and participate in projects (if you're a Premiere Member: http://www.photographycorner.com/premiere-membership ). You can critique and have your photographs critiqued. You can read and write articles and tutorials. You CAN improve your photography. That's what the Corner is all about - helping you take better photographs.

2) Sponsor: Tafota.com

If you're a professional photographer (or aspiring to be one!), you probably have a web site (and if you don't, you should!). Take a minute and think about your website. How easy is it to update with fresh images or content? If you have a webmaster you just call or shoot him or her an email and wait 3-4 weeks and then get a bill for $150 for a few changes. If you do it yourself you labor over it for hours, but at least the price is right. Well, I found this company called Tafota that has really nice Flash website templates you can manage yourself without the fuss. Imagine having the ability of creating up to 20 pages of information, have up to 6 galleries of 50 images each and being able to switch them out easily. Change your color scheme with just a couple mouse clicks. They even have a music library already built in for you. But what's really great is if you call them with a question, most of the time a real person answers (and the real person actually knows what they're talking about)! They also give you the option of purchasing one of their templates or leasing one. In the long run it's less expensive to purchase, but with the lease program you can check things out and get started for pocket change. As an added bonus (being a member of the Corner does have its benefits, you know!) you can take advantage of an offer for $50 off the set up fee. Check them out at http://www.tafota.com and click on the Designs button to see examples of their different templates. Use the promo code "pc" to take the $50 off if you order (this is a limited-time offer, so if you're sitting on the fence, now is the time to get your website up and running!). With Tafota, managing your website has never been easier.

7) Your Friends

One of the things that makes PhotographyCorner unique as compared to other photography sites online is the community we have here. Sure we have the forums, blogs, galleries, contests, etc. Other sites have at least some combination of those. What makes the Corner so special is the way the community interacts and treats each other. We're helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to help each other and willing to teach and learn with each other. That's what makes this place. But what about your friends? Have you invited them to the Corner yet? Inevitably photographers hang around with other photographers. What about your buddies that have a camera - have you invited them to the Corner? Don't you think your friends would benefit from the community we have here? Go ahead and close your eyes for 10 seconds - no peeking! Now think about your friends - which ones would benefit from hanging around the Corner? Now, go ahead and email them, or give them a call. Invite them to sign up. You know they won't regret it, and they'll probably thank you once they've joined and their photography starts to improve - just like yours did when you joined. Share the love, eh?

See you around the Corner,
Tim L. Walker
