lens recomendation for butterfly and libelula photography

I need help choosing the right lens for libelula and butterfly photography. which is the best options ? anyone . For Cannon Camera

For insect work of any kind you'll want a macro lens some of the others around here could better recommend a specific lens. In any case I would always rent any prospective lenses and try them out first befre buying.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._8L_Macro.html - Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM - roughly around $900.00 at B&H - Don't skimp on this one. A macro lens is probably one of the lenses in your camerabag that will get a hell of a workout. Trust me once you get it, you ain't gonna use it just on butterflies and plants. You'll be photographing anything that you can get your hands on or your lens near. And on top of that if you want to photograph stinging insects. 100mm will allow you to stand off and still get 1:1 repro.

I still have to pick up a Nikon 105mm f/2.8 VR Macro to mate to my D300s.
