Digital Correction of Photographs

Hi,
I'm a novice to the world of photography but have a great interest. I got a DSLR and try to take various photographs and some of them are good as per the viewer. But one thing I'm seriously lacking is making small correction through Photoshop. Can somebody suggest some good resource (prefeebly net resource or low-cost book as at this moment I can't spend much money) which can teach me some basics for this. It has to be very descriptive in nature.

I agree with Sasquatch. In addition to any of his books, I highly recommend Kelby TV as well. Some of the stuff is more advanced than what you indicate, but you can't fail to learn some good stuff there. Don't fail to go back and review older episodes as well.
