entering text near edge of photo
I want to enter my name in a photo that I am putting up for sale in a local coffee shop.
I was told (by the company printing) that I should enter any text (logo/name) an inch from the edge of the photo. How do I know where an inch from the edge is? They just told me to use photo editing software (like photoshop - which I'm using) to do it. Again, sorry if this sounds dumb!

In Photoshop, you need to:
1) go to Edit > Preferences > Units & Rulers 2) there, you can specify the units for rulers 3) you then need to show the rulers (if not shown already) - either CTRL + R, or View > Rulers 4) in the 'Info' tab, you can monitor the exact position of your cursor Hope that helps (and if the text isn't clear, see the attached) |

Sabine, you can also choose to show a grid over your picture.
The dark solid lines are spaced 1 inch apart. Click view>show>grid Or with key strokes. On Mac- command + ' On PC - CTRL + '

Another thing you can do is use the snap function to help you align your text box anywhere on the grid.
Click view>snap. If it's already checked, leave it alone. Then click view snap to, and make sure grid is checked. When you use the move tool to change the position of your text, you will see control points on the corners and the middle of the bounding box. You can make either the corners or the middle points "snap", or align with the grid lines, just by moving the box close to them.
