WWII Gun emplacement

These images show a World War II gun emplacement and protecting stone wall that were used by Australian and United States troops. They are located on a headland in Townsville, Queensland, Australia, and overlook Magnetic Island and the port of Townsville.

Emplacement - unfortunately much defaced in parts.

Stone wall built just outside the door to the front of the previous image. It is reinforced with concrete.

Re: WWII Gun emplacement

I find this location to have extreme interest and possibilities !! I like the first one the best, I do think though that your conversion is somewhat flat in appearance, its very grey without alot of contrast, not being critical just trying to point out some thoughts that may help you enhance these a bit I envy you for having subjects such as this at your disposal !!

Re: WWII Gun emplacement

Thank you all for your comments. I do see what you mean Jim, and I have revised it to give a bit more contrast.

I also revisited the location this morning to get some shots earlier in the day, so I didn't have the shadow over the front area of it. I'll post another image later from that little visit.

Re: WWII Gun emplacement

What a great lookin place. I like the first as well. Also agree with Jim. They seem to have a lot of midtones, but Im lookin at these on a bad monitor. Looking forward to seeing more from this location too.
