Re: Three Rivers and Moonshine

Wow, these are great Tim! I really like the first 2 shots. I wish I had a city close by to Photograph at night. Very nice thanks for sharing.

Re: Three Rivers and Moonshine

All great, but the B&W does it for me. I second Jim's Silver Efex recommendation. It truly is an amazing piece of software. Now, if they could just get rid of the Penguins, I might like Pittsburgh better (I'm originally from Philly and a former Flyers season ticket holder)

Re: Three Rivers and Moonshine

Gorgeous stuff Tim. You're making me want to take a ride out there. Tough to find the time though.
If your in aperture priority mode and want to dial back exposure, use exposure compensation button. Push and hold the little +/- button next to the shutter release and adjust the shutter speed with the rear command dial. Just like manual only when you release the button you won't accidentally change shutter speed.
You might also think about using a polarizing filter to help control the flare.
It might work?

Re: Three Rivers and Moonshine

Thanks for the feedback, Jimbo and John.

Don't hold the Penguins against them, Jim. I'm an undercover Broncos fan, and I have to live with the Steelers!

Thanks for the tips, John. The original shot is actually a tad underexposed, and I was able to bring it up in Lightroom. My camera mazes out at 30 seconds, though, when not in bulb...what am I saying? You've got the D300 too, if I recall.

I did try my polarizer, but without my shutter release, the shot was grossly underexposed.

Anyway, I'm planning another visit this weekend.

It's been a while since we've heard from you, John, whatcha been up to?

Please Tim, do not walk around Pittsburgh with any Broncos gear showing.

I've been working mostly, and dealing with some family issues.
Just haven't had much time this summer for photography.
Hopefully, I'll get out shooting more soon, and find more time to visit the forums.

Re: Three Rivers and Moonshine

WOW! There is so much talent on the forum....with that said...these shots are absolutely amazing! As soon as I clicked on the link and your pics started to reveal itself...my first expression was..."OH WOOOOW!"

I love them all, but I especially love the first one. The first one has the curve of the freeway/road that seems to add to the dynamics of this panorama! Beautiful capture, love the colors too! Congratulations on the "first-time" panorama! Very successful!
