Re: Purple Sunset!

Very pretty capture...this is different using a fisheye for this type of shot. Good job.

Re: Purple Sunset!

Do the colors match what you were seeing? I think you have have had a skewed white balance as well. You had a great beach sceene.

That being said I don't think a fisheye lense does this scene justice

Re: Purple Sunset!

I think this is an interesting use for fisheye. To me, having the sun front and center helps pull my attention from the curved horizon. It's a bit dark, though; I'm wonder why you chose f/29? With a fisheye, you should be able to get really nice DOF with even as low as f/16 (thoush that would probaly have been a bit overexposed).

Re: Purple Sunset!

I think using a fish eye for seascapes can be effective. I've used mine before and liked the results.

Tim is partly correct. As long as you don't need to have anything in sharp focus in a close foreground, you can get very deep DOF shooting nearly wide open with a fisheye. Anything between 5.6 and 11 would be sufficient.

I also agree with Sarah. It seems a bit dark and details are lost in the water and the rocks. Mostly because this is sometime before actual sunset.
Waiting til the sun is at the horizon, or even just below it would give more even lighting across the entire frame. Even just waiting til the sun was more behind the clouds would have helped.
