The Future of Photography: Cutting Edge

Researchers at the Computer Vision Lab at Columbia University have developed a bendable lens array and self-charging "eternal" camera.

Close to two billion cameras were sold in 2015 worldwide, and even though we’ve solidly entered the 21st century by now, those cameras are still based on an invention made many centuries ago: the camera obscura, a.k.a. the pinhole camera model. These types of camera have served humanity extremely well over the course of time, but is it a type of camera that should live to see the future?

Researchers at the Computer Vision Lab at Columbia University seem to think photography needs an update. And what’s more: they think they invented the future of photography. To them, it’s bendable and eternal.
