Monument Falls and Whiteface Mountain...

Over ten years ago I posted some photos from a trip I made to visit my Aunt Becky who lives in upstate New York. I had such a fun time exploring and learning about the Adirondack Park she called home. It has been a long time since I've gotten to visit the state and visit her. My family and I were up there a few weeks ago, but it was not a joyful visit my dear Aunt Becky passed away after battling cancer for two years. As a way to pay tribute to this incredible woman I revisited our old locations (thanks to Google Earth and the internet) and photograph them again. But this time I was in the winter instead of summer, so it was quite different for me. If you'd like to read more about this story and the image I posted a link to my blog. http://bdjphoto.com/blog/2017/1/pic-of-the-week-1/19/17

Enjoy!

Re: Monument Falls and Whiteface Mountain...

Thanks for sharing an amazing story about your aunt and your memories of Whiteface Mountain. The image is beautiful and was worth the effort to be there at the right time. I too have good memories of the Adirondack mountains. I spent 4 years in Plattsburgh in the USAF. Sometimes at -30 degrees, skied on Paleface Mt. a short distance from Whiteface and on our honeymoon hiked to the top of Whiteface in May. What a beautiful place. I alo liked checking out your link with more info on it.
Have you had a chance to visit the Ausable Chasm off rt 75? (I think) Thanks again.

Thank you. She loved the Adirondacks. She used to say "I don't understand why anyone would leave this place to go on vacation." We visited all of our old locations and Ausable Chasm was our very last stop that day.
