youthful yellowthroats

the undeveloped park area where i go to look for lazuli buntings is also crawling with common yellowthroats, though most of the time, you only catch glimpses of them in flight across the tops of the grasses. but apparently there's a nest fairly close to a path, and i spotted several young ones there playing tag among the brambles and branches. because they're immature, they apparently have not yet read the chapter in the Common Yellowthroat's Guide to Proper Behavior, because they were popping out in the open in various places all along the hedgerow. i expect their parents will give them a stern talking-to about their reckless attitude, and soon they'll be just as shy and elusive as the adults... but for now, i enjoyed watching their antics!

Re: youthful yellowthroats

Another wonderful set Rocky. How long do you have to sit before the birds come up and pose for you LOL...or stay hidden so they don't notice you?

thanks, Clark! it varies... some days, i get what i'm after in just a few minutes, other times it takes several hours... patience is the key with wildlife photography!
