Sisters

Two more of my beautiful students, sisters Bekka and Andie. I shoot Pentax, andI seldom use my Canon Rebel except for closeup work (I have the incredible MP-E Macro Lens which operates between 1x - 5x; nobody makes anything comparable so I bought one and the Rebel) but I have used it for some portraiture at ISO 1600 - I like the quality its sensor gives under certain lighting conditions at this rating.

So I used this rating and the kit lens at 55mm for both shots, at 1/60th and f5.6.

Bekka is a very talented cellist, who just performed the Haydn C Major concerto with the Northern Orchestra of British Columbia, which I conduct. A shy girl, she can be difficult to photograph. I got these two shots, same pose, different facial expressions, and slightly different color interpretations. Let me know which one you prefer.

Her younger sister Andie is another kettle of fish. More outgoing and talkative, she is also becoming an outstanding violinist, possessing a virtuoso technique . . . she is working on several of the Sarasate Spanish Dances, and is about to make an assault on some of the Paganini Caprices. Andie is assistant concertmaster of the orchestra. Her leadership qualites and strength are, I think, obvious in her facial feaures and deportment in general.

Thanks for looking in.

Re: Sisters

Not so sure about the hand position on these Gord but I do like the expression in the first.
