The breach: full series (warning - image heavy)

Here's the full series of shots of the orca breaching from my whale-watching excursion the other day...

Thanks, Sabine! The whale was probably 200-250 yards away - by law, boats are supposed to stay a minimum of 100 yards, There were several other orcas visible in the area - we were watching a resident pod - and this one was on the far side of the group. I also got shots of them on the surface but not breaching, just the fins, etc., but those are far less dramatic, obviously.

WOW! I love this series.. It's not easy to capture these moments!
My favorites are the first and the second.. Mainly for the position of the orca

Just out of curiosity, how many pictures you took during the excursion?

Thanks, Federca! I like the first best for the position of the orca, but the second one is the sharpest... I probably shot 250 frames, maybe a few more. Lots of shots of tall black fins, "porpoising", and some of a pair of humpbacks we saw as well..
