D800

The D800 is out! 36.3 mp, $2999.95 sounds sweet to me...

Re: D800

Sounds sweet to me as well. I would like more info on the D800 E ($3299.00 BH) because supposedly they have removed the low pass filter and the camera will give sharper images although moire will need to be included with the software that comes with the camera.

Re: D800

Well I do agree at 4fps it is really not a sports camera, but at FF and 36.3mp it is a great landscape and portrait camera. Boy am I tempted...
Same body and controls as my D700 means it will handle just like the one I have only give better results.

Re: D800

Interesting no doubt......although, I wonder what the noise figures, and dynamic range are going to look like. 36mps might sound great on the face of it, but what is it really needed for beyond really large prints. Going to need a lot of storage if you shoot Raw thats for sure.

For Internet use I've found I have to lower my jpg quality from what it was with only 12mps on my D7000 just to post on most sites, and thats only 16mps.pith

Re: D800

Is it really a storage issue with the availability of Terabite external hds? I can't help but think about our National Parks early in the morning and in the evenings. I now use 8 gig CF cards so I would move to 16 gig CF cards.

Re: D800

I'm not the least bit tempted because for the type of shooting I do I am well aware of what meets my needs and a 36mp camera is way, way, way more than I need now or would ever need. I don't need an Indy 500 race car to drive my daughter to school and I don't need a 36mp DSLR for macro shots. I will let my better judgement dominate my lust for new gear. Don't get PO'd as I'm only speaking for myself.
