Buckeye Trees in the Hills of Contra Loma

I took this on Sept 2nd on a morning walk Contra Loma Reservoir with my wife. These buckeye trees look dead but will be fully leaved with blooms in the early spring. With this tree one never has to worry about raking leaves in the fall here.

Great composition Jerry. It reminds me of a Japanese painting. I love the angles of the trees.

Nicely done Jerry.........!!

Although I could have done without the leaf raking comments as I prepare to hopefully for the last time this fall pick up my leaves.

Thanks ...and I know what you mean about raking leaves. We just cut down our Mulberry tree in the backyard last Tuesday that we planted a little over 47 years ago. the root system was becoming to invasive and causing problems. I/we will sorely miss the tree and shade it provided from April into November but I won't miss raking and disposing of all the leaves. Attached is a series I took of the Mulberry removal.

Jerry, very strong image...quite graphical. Love your use of high contrast to accentuate the trunk lines.

Very cool looking trees and a great shot of them! Do you have any shots from closer to them? I'm not familiar with this tree type and would love to see what they look like up close and personal

Thanks glad you enjoyed the photo. I really don't have a full tree close-up or the fruit it produces that I can readily find (something to put on my to do list) but below is a photo of the bloom.

Re: Buckeye Trees in the Hills of Contra Loma

Pretty blossom too! In the mean time I googled "buckeye" - it's a type of chestnut tree. I learned something new today

Re: Buckeye Trees in the Hills of Contra Loma

There is a chocolate peanut butter treat that resembles the fruit...Basically its a peanut butter ball dipped in chocolate and then chilled....very tasty
