Deception Pass at sunset

Deception Pass is a channel between the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the northern end of Puget Sound, and separates Whidbey Island from Fidalgo Island. The bridge over the pass offers some of the most photogenic shots to be had in the Puget Sound area, and sunsets there can be spectacular. we've had a few days over cold, clear weather, and since i was on my way home from hanging some of my pictures in a hospital on Whidbey Island as the sun was setting, i stopped at the pass to get a few pics. i was a few minutes late for the peak, but this didn't turn out to bad IMHO... 5D2, 24-105 @ 102mm, 1/8 sec @ f/11...

Indeed it did not turn out bad Rocky. This is a beautiful shot, I think you caught it just right. Was it taken from the bridge?

thanks Jimmy! yeah, this was shot from the bridge, the north end of the main span just where the stairs go under it.

Re: Deception Pass at sunset

Deception Pass is one of my favorite places to shoot when I come to the PNW. I have several shots of the bridge and a couple from the top of the hill overlooking the sound. None are on par with this one though.
