Crater Lake's Vidae Falls

This archived image popped up on my screensaver and piqued my interest. It was taken years ago while on a visit to Oregon's Crater Lake NP. It is Vidae Falls, approximately 100 ft tall spring fed waterfall emanating from the exterior wall of the caldera holding Crater Lake and once known as Mt Mazama. Is the spring actually leakage from Crater Lake? No. The falls are 600 ft above the lake's surface and apparently are fed my snowmelt and rain percolating thru the pumice plain and ridge above the falls. This is late August flows.

Rocky, Sabine, Carl, Jerry & Doug,
Thanks for viewing and commenting. BTW: this is on the SW part of the East Rim Drive, just south of the intersection with Pinnacles Rd and south of Phantom Ship Overlook

Re: Crater Lake's Vidae Falls

Any idea if that area is near the PCT? I know the trail passes through Crater Lake area. It would be worth a trek out when we do our trek to see this.

Vidae Falls is on the SW corner of Crater Lake (ie 4 or 5 o'clock) with the PCT passing along the eastside. As nice a little falls as it is, you'll be "waterfall'd" out by the time you complete the OR/WA parts of the PCT.....it ain't called the Cascades for no reason. The PCT passes at a lower elevation on the west slopes of Crater Lake, aka Mt Mazama, unless you take a side alternative route to the rim, one option being northbound to the visitor center and along the west rim including overlook of Wizard Island before rejoining the PCT trail and exiting the park northbound. I think they have tour buses for a quick (several hours) loop around the park.
