Resizing Images in Lightroom Question

As part of my new portrait packages I am going to be offering the digital file with the print purchased in the same size as the print. To clarify, if the client purchases an 11x14", I want to limit the size that can be printed from the file to 11x14" or smaller.

I'm using Lightroom 6. So my question is.. What is the best way to go about this?

Re: Resizing Images in Lightroom Question

The only way I can think of would be to find the minimum pixel dimensions needed fopr an 11x14 print and limit your file size to those dimensions.

Do you know if it makes a difference of whether I do this thru the crop function vs when I'm exporting the image?

Re: Resizing Images in Lightroom Question

All that does is change the aspect ratio to the specified ratio. What you would need to do is look up the minimum pixels needed for an 11x14 print at 300dpi and then at export limit your file dimensions to that size in pixels.

Re: Resizing Images in Lightroom Question

If you are offering the digital file along with the print, why try to limit the size of the file? If they going to get their own new prints from the file, what does it matter?

Re: Resizing Images in Lightroom Question

Was just looking to see if there was a way to limit them getting a good quality print larger than the size that they purchased.
