Of the two pictures, the first one is my favorite. The movements are more fluids and it makes it a cool abstract piece
You asked for a cropping option.. At first I thought exactly what you did, cut the top and the left side to leave just the rowers and the boat to fill the frame. Then I thought about it a bit more and I think I would probably just crop the top part but leave the left side as is. I cannot really explain to you why exactly, but for me it would suggest even more movement
And I agree that it would make a great poster!!!
