Canon PowerShot A75

Article: Canon PowerShot A75: A Digital Camera to Satisfy First-Time Users

Summary: It's definitely a step up, though not a huge one. Major improvements include the addition of a print/share button, a new Special Scene mode, and most importantly, a nine-point autofocus system (compared with the A70's five-point system). Its bright and crisp 1.8-inch LCD screen and well-placed controls will satisfy most novices , though it's missing some pro features like a variable-angle LCD and the ability to create your own custom shooting modes (both of which are found on the Canon PowerShot A80). The A75 offers 3X optical and 3.2X digital zoom, a 35-mm equivalent focal length of 35 to 105 mm, shutter speeds from 1/2,000 to 15 seconds, aperture ranges of f-2.8 to f-8.0 (wide angle) and f-4.8 to f-8.0 (telephoto), an AF assist lamp, six photo effects settings, seven white-balance settings, and a self-timer. The pictures from the 3.2-megapixel Canon PowerShot A75 could be sharper, but the exposure is excellent. This camera will satisfy first-time digital-camera users, but serious amateurs, enthusiasts, and pros may want to look elsewhere.
