Broken Dreams

As much as I love this photograph, I do so love the "painted" version!

There are hundreds of houses like these all over South Australia, often on properties where people are still living, and more in the middle of nowhere.

I'm hooked on them, and always find myself wondering about the people who tried to eke a living from the land around them .....

Great picture, CathieT... the colors and emotion in the shot are very vibrant. What program and what effects did you use to create the "painted" version?

Thanks both!

As I'm sitting here thinking about it - don't think this was Paint Engine after all - it was an action I downloaded from the web - ink and watercolour!

However, Paint Engine is really cool - here's the link: http://www.fantasticmachines.com/html/paint_engine.htm

It's quick, easy, majorly customisable and the best part?? It's absolutely (no strings) free!!

Hope you can get as much enjoyment from it as I do ...

Nice! Great plug-in too. I think I like the original better, though... more character & more detail.

Cathie, Nice work, good compostion,

But I feel that the roof has blown out. I think there is scope for 1/2 stop under exposure to maintain dtls in shadow and bring out the dtls in the roof.

The picture looks nice. But it looks too nice so that I don't exactly look at this house as "Broken Dream." Just my opinion though ...

Thank you too for your critique Sinha. I am very new to photography, and only have a compact camera at the moment. I appreciate comments like yours, makes me think when I get behind the viewfinder.
