I didn't win the contest, but I did sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

My second choice is overtaking my first choice. I hate making decisions!

Quick question, there seems to be a good amount of centered shots in this contest. While I know this is more visually appealing, isn't it a bit generic, and does this work better for selective color in anyone's opinion? Because maybe the color is the focus of the shot?

Hmmm, still deciding on my choice.

Yeah, I noticed how a lot of the shots were "centered" as well... and I think selective coloring does lend itself, in general, to shots like that, where the colored portion is central to the entire shot.

Good observation.

That is an interesting observation. I never really gave it much thought before. I did play around with some of my stuff, and wasn't really happy with any of it, and I wonder if that's why?

Hmmm perhaps we notice that the subjects are more centered because of the selective color! I generally hate centered stuff too. I'm all over the rule of thirds!

I generally for the most part am not a fan of SC.

Clients love it for some crazy reason so I end up doing a lot of it. I think it's "sooo" last year! Time for something new!

I think digital IR is going to be the next rage!

Could be Soopah But really, your stuff is great I am sure you probably could have won the contest. Maybe centered shots are training wheels for photographers. I think its natural for these type of shots but my question is does it always make a good shot?

I dont think so, theres some shots that SCREAM for it, some shots that look goof with it, and well Ive seen some shots with SC that just make the image look worse than it did before.
