Oh My Quad!

Yeah I know you PC users are going to think I'm nuts but I'm going to do it. All my software is Mac so it only makes sense.

I just got the quote from my Mac reseller and I'll be placing the order tomorrow. I'll be starting the 3d gig I recently got in about 2 weeks so the timing couldn't be better. The seller for me was the benchmark scores done for Cinema 4d with the Quad, practically cut the rendering time in half compared to the G5 2.7 Dual. Rendering times will be very important to me so the Quad + Cinema 4d seems like they work well together, along with other Adobe apps I use.

Here's what I'll be getting.

Specifications

* 2.5GHz Quad-core PowerPC G5
* 4Gig 533 DDR2 Non ECC SDRAM
* 250GB Serial ATA - 7200rpm
* NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT 256 MB SDRAM
* 16x SuperDrive DL (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
* Apple Keyboard & Mighty Mouse - U.S English
* Mac OS X - Tiger
* Accessory kit

Plus the sales guy is going to throw in a Lyncsys Router which i'll need....I'm trying to get more from the guy since I'll be spending quite a bit on this system Just don't ask or remind me

I can't help to think though that with the money I'll be spending on this beast of a machine I could've got some serious photography equipment if all goes well and we get more clients that can become a reality

I'll let you guys know when I get it

Awesome Tyger! I don't know much about computers other than they either work or they don't. Congratulations though, that sounds like one "mean machine" (sorry, a term from the 60's-it's a good thing!)

Yup and it's not cheap either even through a 3rd party company it adds up, but I'll definitely be using alot of it when working on my 3d stuff.

Oh yeah but of course You don't need a special chip, macs have always been able to use MS programs. You may be thinking of the new Intel Chips for the mac. They just released the Macbook and imac Intels. As for the Power PC's they won't be out until later this year, but then there will be another waiting period for the software migration.

I have a feeling though that they will come out with some serious macs...maybe a Quad Quad processor....WOW!
