1) Summer Time, Baby!

Oh yeah. You know it. Well, at least those of you in the Northern Hemisphere. It's summertime and man, does that nice warm sun feel good. Doesn't it just make you want to go outside and photograph everything that you see??! And then, when you get a little too warm, doesn't the heat just feel like it's driving you back inside, so you can hop in front of your computer and share your photos with the world on PhotographyCorner.com? Don't deny it, I can see it in your eyes. And did you know, when you're on PhotographyCorner you're in a community of fellow photographers from over 100 different countries? In fact, last month we had visitors from at least 116 different countries around the world. How cool is that? I mean, all you have to do is look at the last couple of PotM and CCC winners to see what a geographically expansive community we have here. Our past 2 PotM winners and past 2 CCC winners have been from Indonesia, Belgium, Canada & Saudi Arabia. Now that's HOT!!! You want to add your country to that list? You know what you have to do... Summertime is calling you.

2) Sponsor: Lensbabies

You've seen photos taken with them - You're intrigued. You secretly want one - you drool with envy. Those who have one, love it. Those who don't, want it. Winner's of numerous awards, including the Professional Photographer's 2004 Hot 1 Awards (which honor the most outstanding products for the professional photography market), the Lensbaby is a selective focus lens that creates images like those produced by a Holga film camera, but works with your digital SLR. Whether used to capture the retro feel of yesterdays photography or used to embrace a unique way to express creativity in-camera as opposed to creativity in the digital darkroom, Lensbaby 2.0 is worth every penny. Read the review in our Photography Resource Center, then get yours here: http://www.lensbabies.com

3) Contest Corner Challenges

I know PhotographyCorner is kinda big, and can be daunting at times, but have you ever explored the Contest Corner Challenge section? There has been some confusion as to what the Contest Corner Challenges (CCC's) are all about, so let me give you the inside scoop. Firstly, everyone (as long as you're a member of the site, and you obviously are if you're receiving this newsletter) can enter a CCC - not just Premiere Members. Sure, if you're a Premiere Member, you can win better prizes sometimes, but everyone can enter, and everyone has a chance of winning a prize. Oh yeah, and it's free to enter. Can't go wrong there, eh? About 15+ times a year, we announce a new contest with some sort of theme. You have 2-3 weeks to go take a photo and submit it for the contest. Then the whole community goes and votes on it. If the community likes your photo best, you win! If you don't win, you still got to go take photographs (something you presumably love to do already) so you still win. It's a win-win situation. You gotta like that. We've actually got voting going on right now for CCC#22: Place of Worship. We've got a great collection of 22 entries. Go on and vote right now before you forget: http://www.photographycorner.com/for...ad.php?t=35912 I fully expect you (yes, that includes you) to enter a photograph in one of the upcoming contests, so here are some other CCC-related links that you should read before you enter:
Contest Corner Rules & Regulations: http://www.photographycorner.com/for...read.php?t=494
Past CCC Winners: http://www.photographycorner.com/con...rner-challenge

The next contest starts in about a week, so check back in on the Contest Corner forum to see what the theme is and go out and challenge yourself to take a photo and enter it!

4) Premiere Membership - Is it for Me?

Ummm, yeah. 'Nuff said.

Oh, wait, you need a little more convincing than that? Hmmm. I shouldn't have to, but I'll go over it quickly for you. Being a Premiere Member doesn't only give you access to the Premiere Corner (you know you've tried to get in, but you can't, right?), and not only does it give you that cool "Premiere Member" rank and orange rank icons, and not only does it allow you to win better prizes for contests, and not only does it include all the cool stuff listed here: http://www.photographycorner.com/premiere-membership But, (yes, finally a but) you also get to give a little financial donation to the site that you use and love. Ideally this site would cost nothing to run, but the reality is, as this site continues to grow, it takes more time to run, and costs more money to keep up. Soon, we're going to have to get our own server to keep this site up. That's not particularly cheap. So, in becoming a Premiere Member, you can help support the site and keep it up and running. We're not all crazy like some photography sites out there, charging several hundred dollars (or more) per year for membership, just a small donation to help the site out. Plus you get all those perks, right? Haven't you just been itching to enter some photos into the Premiere Projects section, or maybe even nominate a couple of photos for the Photograph of the Month contest? Become a Premiere Member, and all that can be yours!! But wait, there's more!! Instead of 3 easy payments of $19.99, we're going to make 1 payment for you! That's a Premiere Membership of 2 easy payments of $19.99, plus we'll throw in this FREE vegetable chopper - a $55 value, all for 2 easy payments of only $19.99 (ok, you can actually donate whatever you want... I was joking about the payments... oh, and there's no PhotographyCorner Vegetable Chopper either... don't you want late-night-TV-infomercials).

5) "Noteworthy Notables"

If you've been a bit busy lately, or haven't spent as much time as you would have liked around the Corner in the past month (guilty as charged), here are some great topics you should check out. Thanks to jaimedep for finding some of these gems for me.

6) And That's a Wrap!

For those of you that read every newsletter all the way through: Thanks, I appreciate it. From the feedback I've received, most of you enjoy getting the monthly updates. I enjoy writing them and am glad that a lot of you find them valuable. Now, if you read last newsletter (and I know you did if you're still reading this far down), you may remember I hinted at some sort of prize or contest if you read the newsletter. Well, we're at the end of this newsletter, so here it is. The first person to email me back the link to the page on www.CanadaPhotoSeries.com that contains a photo of "Peyto Lake" will win a PhotographyCorner Pen & Keychain set! The email must have the subject line of "I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHYCORNER!" and the email must include the full link to the page, as well as your username in order to qualify. Now go to it (oh, and if you have some photos that you think should be on CanadaPhotoSeries, make sure you submit them while you're there).

That's it for this newsletter. We hope you continue to learn and grow as a photographer while spending some time around the Corner - but make sure you have fun too! That's what it's all about.

See you around the Corner,
Tim L. Walker
