Who's funding this lady?

State Sen. Liz Figueroa, a Democrat from the Bay Area city of Fremont is basically trying to block Gmail(Google's new email service). While there are a lot of issues surrounding Gmail(privacy concern, etc.), I think this is going a little too far. Is she serious about this or she is just doing this because of those who fund her campaigns?

I understand that some people are concerned about privacy issues. Being a senator, ok, it's her job to look into IT and question some applications, processes, etc. She's concerned about Gmail? Fine. But can she be so convinced(so early) while she serves as a senator ...? I am not so sure. Now she is blocking Gmail for whom? How was she elected in the first place?

Totally stupid. Do poeple not realise that email isn't private anyway? (unless you encrypt it). If people really don't like Gmail for privacy reasons, then the answer is simple - don't use it!
