Something is (very) missing in that shot...
I am not sure I will be able to pinpoint exactly what, but it looks like a missed opportunity to me.

The subject itself is interesting, but the composition is a bit lacking of dynamics, and maybe the contrast is not well adjusted to create the right atmosphere.
Also the cropping, IMHO, is not exactly the optimal one for this subject,as it cuts it in an undefined point. (which could be also nice, but here it is not working well.

I think that with just a little bit of work (pp) it can ransform itself to a great shot .

same shot PP done

I agree, the B&W just didn't do anything so I re-cropped the original, made a change to the RGB and Saturation,then, a little sharpening. It give a true feel of the local barns. Some will say too much saturation. When it is full size, it's not as noticable, this is due to file compression .
