Whirlphoto.com - A New Way to Market Photographers

Article: Photographers Invent Business Model to Market Their Work in Creative Ways

Summary: When Michael Norton, Rick Gayle, and David Schmidt joined forces to create Whirl, a strategic alliance of professional photographers, their objective was to find new ways to reach their audience. Knowing that the advertising landscape had changed, and that portfolio reviews are no longer standard operating procedure, the members of Whirl were seeking new avenues to show work to potential clients. By pooling their marketing resources, they've been able to showcase their photography in a more creative and aggressive light. Known within the business for their reliability and easygoing, genuine personalities, the members of Whirl take a creative approach to their work, while keeping the atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable during photo shoots. When you factor in their competitive price structures, the members of Whirl provide added value to their clients. Given the individual reputations of the members of Whirl, the name has acquired a certain stamp of quality and provides clients with the confidence of knowing that they're working with top-flight photographic talent.

Question: A neat concept, I think... and at the very least, they got some press coverage from it. How important do you think it is to have a web presense? Would a combined web presense work better, as in this case, than each photographer having their own?

Hmmm I guess when your that high profile of a photographer it does work. Maybe people who recognize his name will discover the other photographers of whirl

Apparrently it works in other ways....
