Mississippi Headwaters

I went to northern Minnesota looking for snow this week and had a hard time even finding ice. This is the headwaters of the Mississippi River in Itasca State Park. Taken with a split density filter, probably 3 stop hard edge.

Beautiful shot, colours are gorgeous. Yeah, snow is in short supply this year. I'm in Canada as well, Toronto, and we haven't seen any! Ski resort just north of us had to close down and lay off its employees until the weather gets cold enough to make snow. First time they've had to do that in 65 years!

Agreed: beautiful shot. Also, it went up to 70 degrees (Fahrenheit) in New York City, to-day; Bryant Park's ice-skating rick actually had to close down, because the ice was melting... It's nice now, but, damn, when I think about this coming June — .

*It's noteworthy, though, that Denver, Colorado seems to have been getting more than its share of cold and snow. Maybe it's not that it's "not cold," but just that it's cold at "the wrong place/s."

Real tranquility in this image, I like the dark foreground with enough detail to see what is there but that the main light focal point is the water and it's sky reflection. A really pretty shot and I like that low down persepctive.

Excellent capture. I like the composition in this alot. The sky-to-ground distance is very balanced and exposure looks really good. But I think that the resolution needs some work. I think that its too compressed. All in all a great capture.
