Waiting for summer

Snow storm here today so thought I would look back at some shots I took last spring. This is a waterfall that is within walking distance to my house. Quite a bit of water flows through here in the spring wiht the snow melts.

Now that I can think (and type), what kind of post-processing have you done? I love the effect.

Beautiful picture.
The exposure is perfect. What makes this picture outstanding (in my opinion) is the fact that there are three speed levels of the water: In the background the fast running water which got totally soften by the 1 sec exposure, the water in the center which got somewhat soften and the water in the foreground which stays almost without any move and is pretty sharp even with that 1 sec exposure... again- just perfect!
Did you use a ND Filter?

Thanks Younes and Scott.

No special processing done here. When I took the shot the 1 sec exposure totally killed the sky so without moving the camera I exposed for the sky and took another shot. I just brought the sky from photo 2 into photo 1. I then did a curves adjustment a little saturation in a couple of the channels and a selective colouring adjustment in the black to boost the black and adj the white to make the white a little whiter.

The curves adjustment I do is a little different, I wrote a tutorial and Tim will put it up when he gets to it. I am more than happy to send you the .doc if you want it.

I forgot to mention in the original post that I used a flash to give the foreground a little pop.

Thanks again for looking and commenting.

Thanks zaplig, I like your analysis of that. That pool in the foreground was not there a couple of days after when I went back, that was the highest the river got that spring. It was starting to get dark in that part and the flash is what helped the effect of motionlessness (if thats a word).
