Moose in the Middle

Good...bad...critics welcome. Saw this moose along the Kancamagus Trail in New Hampshire. Tried to sneak up on her but she had 2 calves which she promptly signaled to move to back of bog, so I couldn't shoot them!#$@#$ This was best I could do.

The image seems grainy to me...

I'd look at placing the moose off center in your frame perhaps the lower left third. The catchlight in her eye seems a bit unnatural to me - too big or pronounced I'd say. Did you use your flash by any chance. I'm just wondering what would be causing such a big relection in her eye.

When it comes to wildlife we often have to "take what we can get."

I appreciate the difficulty of capturing skittish wildlife and realize that your time is limited on setting up the shot, but the exposure lacks contrast and appears washed out overall. The composition is weak unless you're a hunter and enjoy looking down a bullseye to your target. The angle and lack of contrast give the head an appearance of just floating there as you can barely make out the body hidden in the bushes. Consider doing some post processing work on this shot, including some creative cropping to get a more pleasing rendition.
