Balboa Park

I was in San Diego this week for a graphics conference. We took a quick photo field trip to Balboa Park. Here are some flowers from that photo trip. Feedback welcomed.

These are some really great photographs. You're DOF and exposure are perfect. I especially love the composition and lighting in number 2.

Thanks, Dawn! #2 was a much wider shot, but I thought I'd try cropping it in a square.

Hunter,

These are some really nice photos, here are my thoughts;

1) The color and composition of this photo are wonderful, it is rich and warm. The flower has great structure and detail. It seems to be suffering from a case of wind movement though, either way, I like it.

2) I really like this one - it is a non-traditional composition for water lillies, usually you get the top shot or the 3/4 angle on them. You did a great job with this one though, it is my favorite of the series.

3) You did a great job on this one too. I particularly like how you really blurred out the leaf in the foreground so it isn't too distracting, instead it frames the flower - which by the way has a great color and texture - I really like the patter the center has.

Lens, Jimmy, thanks for the comments! Jimmy, yeah, there was a bit of wind on that day, and it was my first time using a monopod (a tripod was not something I could easily carry with me on a plane and at the park). It could also have been a movement of mine with the 'pod.
