hmmm.... difficult choice between 1st and 3rd.

Though I like 1st better than the 3rd but 1st had the luxury of as many shots as required to get the shot right where as the 3rd had to be right within a span of couple of shots(if required). 3rd is technically better as the total range between highlight and shadows is too much, still nothing is blown out and nothing is underexposed.

but the final result of 1st is better.

Yeah, your point about the luxury of many shots vs. taking a couple shots on the fly is what tipped my vote to lucian's shot... we still gotta couple more days to vote, though.

Tim, I don't know if this has been mentioned elsewhere before, but is there a way to make the entries anonymous?

It probably isn't a problem here like it would be on other places I've been, but having anonymous entries would keep the playing field level.

It's interesting how subjective photography is... LOL
See I find number 3.... although a very nice picture there is very little shadow detail.

Although number one was shot in a controlled situation there is something to be said for "thinking out the photo" It was still about timing. I think creating a photo is often harder than just getting a good shot of somthing already going on... the photographer had lots of options to shoot a variety of this scene as well... or at least it appears that way.

Either way both are really nice shots!

I think in future we were just going to e mail our shots in Drlynn. But its only the first contest, so I guess were all still working out the kinks.

So you guys would rather not know who took the photograph and just vote on the photograph, without knowing who took it?

at another forum I go to for the challenges you e mail your shot in before the end of the challenge, and admin puts it on the voting page and you go from there

I don't care one way or another. It doesn't seem to me that we have near enough members around here to worry about it becoming a "popularity contest".

I'm really indifferent.
