Go WIDE!!

Wide angle bloom shooting just for fun. One can get some really cool effects this way.
Canon 20D with a 17-70L lens @ 17mm, 1/160 sec., f/11, ISO200, 580EX Flash.

You're right, I like these effects a lot! Usually one doesn't think of the wide angle shooting flowers. I have to try that out, at the next opportunity. Thanks for sharing!

Beautifully done, David. I love the way the lens really accentuates the stalks on these. And that wonderful sky color is a real pleasure to view. Nicely done.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I did this more for fun than for getting that great shot. So many people (me included) forget that the wide angle setting on your camera, when used closer and at different angles, can dramatically improve or otherwise make a lot more interesting an otherwise ordinary photo.

Very cool effect, indeed. Love the colors and the sense of these being huge flowers!

You see, I have this wide lens that I use for landscapes and I also have a macro lens for shooting details and close-ups. Now you've made me want to shoot things all backwards and use my wide lens for some unusual stuff...

Brilliant, and as always I learn that (of course) I still don't know it all

I'm off to find some cool things to shoot with a wide lens (although I'll have to convert to B&W with the cloudy sky here!).

Great shots, keep 'em coming!

Andy
