1) Getting Involved in the Corner

One of the things that makes the Corner so cool is that it's a community effort to make the Corner tick. Sure when it all comes down to it, it's my responsibility to make sure the contests get going, the images show up, etc, but it's really the mods and the community as a whole that make this place what it is. The thing is, if you're not really involved, you're missing out on a lot that the Corner has to offer. The same thing applies to various aspects of our lives. It's the difference between being a player, and being a spectator. It's great if the only thing you joined the Corner for was to look at some fantastic photographs. There are lots of those people floating around the Corner. But if you really want to be a "part" of the Corner, you gotta be here to grow in your photography, right? Trust me when I say this, the best way to grow is to get involved in stuff that's happening around the Corner. Whether it's just greeting new members, or participating in contests, or even actively posting and critiquing photographs, that's all part of what makes the Corner what it is. Do you really want to be a spectator, or do you want to get involved and become a better photographer?

2) Sponsor: Kubota Image Tools

Kubota Image Tools is proud to offer some of the best digital photography workshops, and training products in the world. Their Action techniques have won critical acclaim from many of the world's top photographers! Using these Photoshop Actions, you can create custom artistic images in seconds. Their business mantra is to Empower Photographers, and everything they sell and do is designed around that simple principle. If it won't help you make money, or become a better photographer, they won't offer it. For more information, check then out at http://www.KubotaImageTools.com

7) It's Coming...

Those of you that have been around the Corner for at least a year know what's coming. It's that time of year. Do you know what it is? It's the PHOTOGRAPH OF THE YEAR CONTEST, of course! We're about a month and a half away before we get it kicked off, but there's a lot of work to be done (don't remind me!). This will be our third PotY contest. Our first year had over $16,000 in prizes. Last year, we saw over $20,000 in prizes and almost 200 entries. What's in store for this year? Only time will tell. You can start preparing ahead of time, though. Start looking through the photographs you took this year, maybe post some up for critique and to get some feedback. The competition is fierce, and you'll wanna be ready. If you want to help ME prepare, you can hunt around for some cool companies that you think would make for great sponsors of the contest. You can either email their websites to me, or even contact them yourself and give them my email address ( admin@photographycorner.com ). Some of the best sponsors we've had in the past have come from "nominations" by the members of the Corner. The more the merrier, right? I'm getting excited... I can feel it in the air. The 2008 Photograph of the Year contest is coming!!

See you around the Corner,
Tim L. Walker
