Mt Shuksan from Baker Lake

another couple of shots from the Baker Lake area... these are Mt. Shuksan, which is about 5 miles east of Mt. Baker (and also the subject of my photo, "October Reflection"). the pano is a composite of 5 frames, and would print quite nicely at 12"x36"...

Re: Mt Shuksan from Baker Lake

Rocky, these are both terrific captures....the long pano is wonderful....but that first one is so striking, the foreground gives the sizes and distance such perspective, this is the one to hang on the wall.....really good job....and no birds....hehehe...your friend......

Re: Mt Shuksan from Baker Lake

Fantastic takes. The panorama is really nice. I think the fencing adds a bit of depth but it is also a bit distracting to me. May be it's my eyes only.

Hi Rocky,

Great shots.

In the 2nd shot did you think about cloning out the guard rail?

nah. this was a "test shot" with the 100-400 on my 40D. i'm going back up there when there's more color in the trees, and shoot this with the 5D for the "print version"... i figure with the 5D in vertical format, 5 shots will get me a raw pano file of about 48-50Mp in a 1:3 image ratio, which oughta be enough resolution for a nice print...

These shots are just beautiful Rocky. What software did you use to stitch them. Whenever I try this (using Canon Photostich) I get obvious lines/joints in the final picture. How do you get around this?

You've captured exquisite light, particularly on the lake shot. What time of day was this taken?

Re: Mt Shuksan from Baker Lake

Beautiful shots Rocky! Did you use a hyperfocal technique for the first one? Great DOF there!
