Suggested brand name for the reader? And does an SDHC card need a SDHC reader or any will do?

Generic - I got an external thing ($9.99 I believe) that hooks up to the the USB port on my computer. Supports multiple card types so that I can do my cameras, my family's camera, or any other card that comes my way. The brand is Transcend, I believe.

Actually, my monitor has spare USB ports so that the card reader sits right in front of me.

Forget the filters. $50 won't buy you a worthwhile filter. A memory card, partial payment on something you really want or need, extra battery, remote cable....

I'd go with and extra battery or partial payment for something on something else also. Sam's club has 16 GB SDHC cards for 30 bucks, and you want to put some time, thought, and money into filters if you're going to use them. Personal opinion.
