First HDRs - Back Strand

So this is it. I finally did it lol. This morning around 4:30 i walked down towards the beach and onto the backstrand where between 5 and 6:30am i took these.

This is the first time ive tried HDR or anything like that. When i got home and after spending about an hour trying to figure out how to merge 3 exposures together in photoshop 7 - i soon gave up and downloaded a trial version of "photomatix pro 3" which basically did it for me.

Im sure each has somethign wrong with it, but i am still practicing and have alot to learn with landscapes. But in my own opinion I was quiet impressed with what the programme photomatix produced, it did a great job. (btw you mite see the photomatix watermark as i was using the trial version)

Id really like to hear some opinions on these.

all at f/22 with -2 : 0 :+2 sorta thing going on (bracketing incamera)

"BackStrand"

"Spark"

Wow! Great pastel tones, not over-done, and I am absolutely stunned by "Spark"! I'd suggest it for POTM, for sure, if I was a premiere member.

Re: First HDRs - Back Strand

Nice job Kevin. I'm not usually a fan of HDR because most seem over-processed but these are done in a very subtle and appealing manner. Spark really stands out for me too.

Re: First HDRs - Back Strand

Nice work. You've achieved a tonal range that is not unpleasant to the eye and would mimic what your eye would naturally see throuth the iris opening and closing.

Very nicely done.

Re: First HDRs - Back Strand

I like all 3 and "BackStrand" has a slight edge over "Spark" at least to my eye. Very nicely seen and finished (lovely color tonality). I keep saying I'm going to try this but always come up with some lame excuse to keep me from it.

i know what you mean, theres a whole bunch of different types of photoshop thingys i want to try atleast once but HDR sure did impress me. you should try the programme i used to merge the different exposures together, it works great (you can use a trial version but with watermarks)
