1) Find the Perfect Subject

When we discuss photography, we're frequently talking about equipment and techniques: what kind of equipment you need to take X type of shot, or what techniques the photographer needs to capture Y images. Sometimes it's easy to overlook the other half of photography pie: the subject. The best part is, there are countless subjects to photograph all around us. It's all fine and dandy if we have the best equipment and know all the new, trendy techniques; but if we can't find the perfect subject - one that we're passionate about - that sweet equipment and those awesome techniques will go to waste. For a lot of us money is tight these days - the current economy doesn't lend itself well to new photography purchases. Instead of dropping a bunch of money on new equipment, hoping that will make you a better photographer, find something that you'll be passionate about photographing. You'll be surprised how easy it is to motivate yourself to take more photographs (and how quickly you'll become a better photographer) when you have the perfect subject.

2) Sponsor: Amazon.com

If you make purchases online at all, you've probably bought something from Amazon.com. Whether it's books, CDs and DVDs, or bigger ticket items like cameras, lenses, and even professional lighting equipment, Amazon is one of the most trusted (and usually cheapest) vendors online. In case you missed it in the forums ( link: http://www.photographycorner.com/for...ad.php?t=85567 ), when you make purchases from Amazon.com using this link http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/re.../photogra0f-20 a portion of each sale goes to supporting PhotographyCorner. So bookmark http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/re.../photogra0f-20, and next time you shop at Amazon.com, make sure to start your shop by clicking on that link. Thanks for supporting the Corner!

8) Among Billions

Everyone and their dog has a camera these days. You computer has a built-in camera. Your phone has a camera. Gone are the days where there was 1 camera per family and it was "the photographer in the family" that took all the photos. Enter the days where there are more cameras than family members per family, and everyone takes photographs. If you have a camera and you take pictures, that makes you a photographer, right? Between Facebook and Flickr, there are DOZENS OF BILLIONS of photos online - and that's just from 2 sites. Sure some of those photographs are good, but most of them are just snapshots. So how do you find the good photographs? Better yet, how do you TAKE the good photographs? If you're reading this, you're off to a good start. Watch the Video Corner videos, read the articles and tutorials, participate in the forums, post your photographs up for critique, and critique the photographs of other photographers. In no time the photographs you take will be the good photographs among billions (the needle in the haystack of snapshots).

See you around the Corner,
Tim L. Walker
