Re: Linking vs attachments - quality comparison

As an aside to an earlier comment, the CCCs and POTMs do have a Gallery View as well.

Re: Linking vs attachments - quality comparison

OK, I am new here and understand the people wanting the direct link to your photos from say photobucket and such. Today I posted a couple picture from my photobucket acct. "Frosty" and they still ended up as thumbnails. I'm not really sure how to direct link them so they show up as pictures instead of thumbnails. When I am in my photobucket photo that I want to show, there are different links that I can copy and paste, I copy and pasted the "direct link" from photobucket into the URL spot in the "upload" area on this website in hopes it would be a pic instead of a thumbnail. I hope I didn't confuse anybody with this rambling. Just want to figure out how not to make my picutres NOT a thumbnail and what and where I need to copy it to.

Thanks Everyone!!

Re: Linking vs attachments - quality comparison

Here's a quick review. I used to use Photobucket...until they recently changed their formatting.

Here's what you should be looking at when you go to post a reply (or similarly create a new thread). Note the Insert Image icon (framed in red) that pops up with the "Please Enter URL of your image...." (framed in yellow). Using the Attachment button (green circle) is not what I advocate for the aforementioned reasons.

From your Photobucket account, view your Library (gallery). Right click on the Direct Link tag (red frame) under the image and select Copy. Paste (CTRL+V) the link into the Insert Image icon in the above screenshot. Press "Okay" (purple frame) and you've inserted the image.

If you did as above and got a thumbnail, ensure that you did not upload a thumbnail rather than intended size to your Photobucket account. Click on the Photobucket image to see if its larger (although still compressed). There may also be some size constraints on what Photobucket and/or Photography Corner will allow. Routinely it is suggested that images be greater than 640 pixels wide, preferably 800-1024 pixels if landscape. If portrait (vertical), no larger than 800 pixels tall.

Re: Linking vs attachments - quality comparison

ok, I was going into the "additional options" down below and clicking on the manage attachments and putting that same URL link from photobucket into the "upload file from a URL" box and that was bringing them in as thumbnails. I will try using the insert image box you suggested next time.

Thanks!!
