Since I don't have 25 posts yet, I can't put it in the critiques corner. Since I don't know much (well minutely little) about photography yet, I would like to have some feedback on what you think of this shot.
Because I am yet so extremely unenlightened, please give me lock stock and barrel. If it's bad, why? If it's good, why? If you say there is depth - what is that to start with?  See, I told you I know nothing.
However, if I get lots of really good feedback, maybe I'll be able to learn all the fancy stuff? Then, when I win the next annual competition, I'll have the last  .
Looking forward to being bashed about

PS Please don't manipulate the photo. I wat to learn to photograph with my camera - not learn to paint with photoshop (with all due respect to people who do wonderful things with photo manipulations). I want to become a good photographer first.

I will try my best to try to help, Mufasa!
I do like your photo because it is different, not your normal stop-action picture. That being said, watch your horizon. If you look at the waves in the water you will see them tilted a little. If your purpose was to actually stop the flapping wings of the duck then you needed to use a much faster speed. Anything 1/200 or more. When you up the speed you are able to have your subject look as if it's stop in motion, you won't get all the ghost blur, if you know what I mean. One other thing is your white balance/colors. There seems to be a little too much yellow mixed in with your green giving a sallow hue. You can change your WB in your camera setting. Looks like it was a bright sunny day, in your WB area in the camera there should be an icon of a bright sun. Change the WB to this and I bet the WB will be better for you. Othere than what I said, I do like this because it tells a nice story and it shows motion without stopping it, I thinkt he slow speed adds to your overall picture. I hope this helps and hope others will chime in to assist you, too - I am limited but will always share what I can apprehend.

Thanx for the info. I didn't want to stop the motion like it usually is done with birds. I didn't know how that would go down in a community of photographers, and wanted to find out. There will then probably be other WB settings for different circumstances? I'll go read. Thank you.
