The M-Rock Yellowstone 651 Holster Camera Bag is really just another top-loading, holster camera bag as it looks quite similar to the rest of the bags in the same class, at least at first glimpse. The closer you look, however, the more you realize, while it may be a little more expensive than other single-dSLR, holster-style camera bags, it’s filled with numerous extras and is built with top-of-the-line materials. With the two included, slip-resistant shoulder straps (which I’ve gotta say are pretty comfortable, even with a heavy camera inside), it does weigh-in on the heavy side at 1.6 lbs. The comfy straps and almost-sticky rubber more than make up for the extra weight, though. It also has the standard, cushy neoprene handle as well. It comes with many standard features like a belt loop, 2 pockets on the ouside and a zippered pocket on the front, and other little pockets in expected places like inside the front pocket on under the lid of the bag. The reverse-opening lid is a nice touch, and makes it easy to get your camera in and out if you’re carrying the bag with the straps or attached to a belt. The exterior is a 600D nylon fabric (water resistant), and the interior is made up of closed-cell, reinforced/plastic panneling (non-abrasive so not to scratch any of your camera bits). But most of that is pretty standard with holster-style camera bags these days.

What’s not standard are inclusions like an attached weather jacket that doubles as a lens changing sack (if your hands are small enough). The M-Rock Yellowstone 651 Holster Camera Bag also boasts water resistant zippers covered with water proof rubber zipper tape - and let me tell you, these zippers are good quality. They’re hard to pull, but it’s the “good” hard to pull, if you know what I mean - not sticky like an old zipper, just very solid feeling. It has a wire port for headphones from an mp3 player, and even has an attached lens cloth and bungee straps for carrying a jacket/tripod/etc at the bottom of the bag. These extra features are great, but what sets the M-Rock Yellowstone 651 Holster Camera Bag apart from many other similar camera bags is the sturdy construction of the entire bag. When you hold it in your hands and swing it onto your back, it feels sturdy and durable; it feels like a quality bag.

Capacity

The bag will hold almost all consumer-level dSLR’s with a 4” lens attached. If you use a battery grip, it might be a tight squeeze if it fits at all, but if you’re just carrying around 1 dSLR and a small/medium lens, this bag will hold it. The pockets aren’t huge, but will hold a cable or two, memory cards and an extra battery. The bungee straps at the bottom can hold a small tripod, or something loose like a jacket or sweater.

Overall, the M-Rock Yellowstone 651 Holster Camera Bag is one of the best holster-style camera bags I’ve used to date. It has some neat features not seen on other bags, and includes all the standard features we’ve come to expect from our camera bags. What sets this one apart are the quality materials used to make the bag, and the quality craftsmanship in designing and putting these bags together.
