I was recently given a chance to try out Memolio free-of-charge. They sent me an email and gave me a coupon code to make a free album (more on their product below), so I gave it a shot. I get quite a few of these emails, but have found there are way too many companies that don’t ship to Canada, so a lot of them just don’t end up happening. I was pleasantly surprised to find out Memolio was happy to ship to Canada, in addition to pretty much everywhere else around the globe.

So, what is Memolio, exactly? To be honest, I didn’t really get it at first. Basically, a Memolio album is a small album (we’re talking 4 inches by 2.5 inches by .2 inches) that fans out in 12 double-sides pages. What makes them kinda neat is the fact that the pages are almost impossible to tear (some kind of plastic), and are water-proof. Added to that, they’ve added social networking features that allows you to share your albums with your family and friends.

MemolioYou can create your Memolio album in 3 easy steps: upload 24 images, personalize your album, and preview your work online. Once you place your order, it’s printed and shipped within days. Once I played my order, it arrived about two weeks later, and it was shipped from somewhere in the Netherlands. That’s not bad at all.

You can check out some of the Memolio albums that have been created by other users here and you can watch a full demo on the service here. As far as pricing goes, it’s a great deal at free, but their regular price is €14.99 (which is $20+ in USD), but it does include free worldwide shipping. The books are cute, well-made, and kind fun - probably a great way for kids to have a photo album, as I’m pretty sure they’ll have a hard time destroying the well-made album.

Overall, their website is well put together, and the album creator is really easy to use. Shipping (free!) was fast, and the product is pretty cool. Would I order a bunch of them? Probably not, but it’s a pretty innovative way to get some prints in your hands, and the hands of your family and friends.
