Resizing an Image in Adobe Photoshop Elements

In this tutorial I am going to explain how to easily resize your image in Adobe Photoshop Elements.

After you have finished with the post processing of your image be sure to save your desired image before resizing. First thing you want to do is click on ‘Image’ (at the top of Photoshop where, File, Edit, etc. are located), in this drop menu choose ‘Resize’ than ‘Image Size’.

Once you have clicked on ‘Image Size’ it will open up a box where you can choose the width and height that you would like your final image to be. Using the ‘Pixel Dimensions’ option, enter the desired size of for your image. The most common size is 800 pixels on the largest side of the image, for example: On a horizontal landscape shot you would enter a width of 800, if you have the ‘Constrain Proportions’ box checked in the bottom of the ‘Image Size’ window it will automatically set the height of the image that is proportionate to the width. When you have gotten the size you want click ‘OK.’

Now save your image, be sure to save it with the ‘Save As’ option so it will not interfere with your full size image. Once you have done this you are ready to post your photo on the web.

Note:

A couple good reasons for reasons for resizing your images:

1. Make it easier for people to view, doesn’t take as much time to load.

2. Most people don’t want to have to worry about others downloading their shots to be used for printing, or anything without permission. With such a small image they are very limited on what they can do with it.
